The 2015 Cowboys Classic will feature two college powerhouses when the University of Alabama and the University of Wisconsin meet at Cowboys Stadium in Arlington, Texas on Saturday, September 5. Today’s announcement of the matchup continues a college football tradition of bringing two top college programs to Cowboys Stadium on Labor Day weekend to kick off the college football season.
The seventh annual Cowboys Classic will be just the second meeting ever between these storied programs. Wisconsin won the only previous game, a 15-0 victory in 1928.
This will be the second Cowboys Stadium appearance for Alabama with the Crimson Tide claiming a 41-14 victory over another Big 10 school, Michigan, in the 2012 contest. This will mark Wisconsin’s first visit to Cowboys Stadium.
The game will mark the seventh contest in the Cowboys Classic series with ESPN. Each matchup has featured nationally ranked teams with Brigham Young University upsetting the University of Oklahoma 14-13 in 2009, Texas Christian University knocking off Oregon State 30-21 in 2010, LSU defeating Oregon 40-27 in 2011 and Alabama downing Michigan 41-14 in 2012. LSU and TCU will face off in the 2013 matchup and Florida State and Oklahoma State will square off in 2014.
Information on ticket sales and kickoff time will be announced at a later date.
